I moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn in the summer of '08 and found that there aren't that many flyers in my neighborhood. Until I think of a new subject for this blog, it'll be in hibernation.

Animal Torturer/Mutilator

Shon Rahrig has become an urban myth. He has been spotted in California, Atlanta and Georgia while his depravity and list of atrocities against poor, defenseless puppies and kittens continues to grow. All this despite any real evidence.

On this poster, his last name is spelled Rharig, but the more common spelling is Rahrig. If you spot him in the Antarctic, do not let him near any of the penguins!

They have stole my fathers gold watches and diamond rings, Cheryl Jackson has stolen my mothers 5 diamond rings including her wedding ring to King George. Benjamin Haskell Novick has stolen 9 house of mine in Kona Hawaii where he now owns them. They will say I gave these houses to them. As we all know it requires a lawyer and to sign things to give away things. I have never signed anything to these people. I was forced at gun point one time to sign something to Frank Thomas or Jack with Marshall Gumbiner which gave him control of some of my family business. He assigned himself as executor of my Uncle King John Englands trust when he died in 1969. I did not want him to do this. Frank used hypnosis, mind control and drugs like sodium Penathaol to take advantage of me and cheat me. He says I gave him 300 houses that were precious and in my family for years. What he did was demolish them and redevelop on top and under them. As in Maui they made secret bases there in the mountain. I never received a dime from my family trust. These people including Bob Ferguson stepped in and took over my family trust and bank accounts. The relocated me after I was hypnotized. I have 26 invirtro children that know the story. Christina Aguilera who I have a civil and small claims law suit against. Set for 7/7 2008 SC 097500 at Santa Monica Superior Court and 4/25/2008 at Beverly Hills Small Claims. Corey Feldman, Matthew Broderick, Vanessa Williams, Hayden Panettiere, Hilary Duff, Austin Matthew England, Tracy, Crystal, Savannah, Samantha Hayworth, are my invirtro Children. They asked me for my sperm during the same period of time. In 1977 after my memory was erased and they took over my family trust, They got Syndi Martin to kidnap me and remove me from the state and enroll me in the first grade. Vanity Fair wants Facebook friends . VF.COM/GO/FACEBOOK is a link to their page. They put up these up around NYU, hoping to appeal to college students who identify with the East Coast media establishment. Becoming a fan is your first step to getting an internship so you can fetch this guy coffee.

Every group has its politics, from the Cleveland East Rotary Club to crusties. With groups that see themselves as outside the mainstream, the divide is usually over who is keeping it real and who is a poseur. When I was a punk rocker that was always one of the issues.

Save The World; Stop the Breeding

Reducing the population by voluntary means won't solve the world's environmental issues. Underdeveloped countries, like Mexico and India, have the highest birthrates. Developed countries, like Europe and the U.S. have low birthrates. In fact, the population of the U.S would be declining if it weren't for immigration. It would seem then that the way to reduce the world's population would be for all nations to develop their economies to be more like those of the U.S. and Europe. The problem there is that economies like ours use more natural resources per person.

We need to save the earth by figuring out how to make more - energy, food, water, plasma televisions - with fewer natural resources.

Reverend Jen's Really Cool Neighborhood

This is the East Village that I remember, or at least how I like to remember it.

According to Reverend Jen's Wikipedia page, she is "an American Performer, underground movie star, writer, prophet, painter, director, preacher, poet, troll museum founder and a self-described 'Patron Saint of the Uncool and Voice of the Downtrodden and Tired' from Manhattan, New York City."

Along with "time travel", "dancing unicorns", and "arts + crafts", the flyer advertises live music by the Clean Teens. On the Clean Teens MySpace page, they describe their sound - "We sing about fried chicken, spaceships, chicks with dicks, coke, and forced sex. You know, life."

Guru Pitka Will Teach You Sitar

Guru Pitka is the main character in "The Love Guru", the latest Mike Myers comedy. I've never been a Mike Myers fan so when I saw him doing improv at the Magnet Theater, I was surprised at how good he was. He didn't do any of the shameless mugging that you see in his movies.

This looks like a take off on the ubiquitous "Dan Smith Will Teach You Guitar" fliers.

Someone has it in for Scientology. Through the websites whyweprotest.net and xenu.net , and now fliers, the enemies of Tom Cruise are waging an info war on the house that L. Ron Hubbard built. I found all three of these around Union Square in a week.

Trees Slaughtered By The Bloomberg Administration

The verb slaughter is usually used with animals and sometimes people. It doesn't go with trees.
Also, trees lost the Battle of New York centuries ago and you can't single out Bloomberg as the guy responsible for their absence in the urban landscape. He's the guy that fought so hard for congestion pricing, a way of deterring driving in the city which would have done more to improve the air than planting trees.

Mariah vs. Janet

The publicity blitz for Mariah Carey's new E=MC2 album is on. On this one subway poster, a Janet Jackson fan has taped up an ad for that corporate pop diva's new release, "Discipline."

At least Janet Jackson could define discipline, while I doubt that Mariah Carey could explain the equation E=MC2.

Stop The Raids & Deportations

This is the Spanish side of a flyer calling for a May Day march. Left-wing revolutionaries always include a Spanish translation. It's part of the pose.

These days , being a socialist is a lifestyle choice, like being a hippie or a punk. You talk the talk, walk the walk, and wear the Che t-shirt, but it's merely going through the motions. There's no more likelihood of a socialist revolution than of goths making every day on the calendar Halloween.

Caution: You Are Entering A Sound Rating Zone

While walking down University Place, I stumbled into a sound rating zone.

This is the zone, near the corner of West 11th and University, where the Cedar Tavern used to be.

This is the guy who did the sound rating. His method was to tap everything with a stick and rate the sounds.

The rating categories were resonance, tonality and uniqueness, and the scale was 1 through 10

Passers-by were invited to make their own ratings. I did not see anyone take him up on this.
