The Hottie & The Nottie

Here are ten movies that could be released this year and still not beat The Hottie & The Nottie as the worst film of 2008:

Rambo vs. Predator
A Night At The Roxbury - the director's cut
Green Acres: The Movie
Crossroads 2 - either the Britney Spears or Ralph Macchio flick, doesn't matter.
Reign of Fire 2 - or any other movie about swarms of dragons.
Young Frankenstein - based on the Broadway musical.
Marmaduke: The Movie - The even more repulsive Heathcliff: The Movie was inflicted on audiences back in 1986.
Yentl 2: Shabbat of Blood
She-Hulk
Leonard Part 7

What's Missing In Your Life That Her Life Is So Important In Yours?

I think I can answer that question. What scares us is the nagging feeling that our lives don't matter and that we will die without having made any mark on the world. Celebrities hold out the possibility that we can make a lasting impression and possibly live on after death. that's why we build them up and, because the goal is merely fame, we are willing to elevate someone like Paris Hilton who has no real accomplishments.

Eventually we realize that we won't become famous - not even for 15 minutes - and we become resentful of those in the limelight. We tear them down, getting pleasure every time we see a famous face getting arrested, divorced, caught on tape having sex or making a poor fashion choice.

But that doesn't solve our original problem - the pointlessness of our lives - so we hunger for more celebrities and the cycle continues.

Greed Feeds This Country

It's true that the quest for cash motivates this country. That's capitalism, what the left-wing calls greed. And I'll go along with the notion that we as a nation have become too obsessed with wealth. Paris Hilton is the most stark example that we'll tolerate, even glamourize, any sort of behavior as long as it's associated with extreme sums of money. But this posting, wheatpasted in SoHo, is too shrill and cliche to be taken seriously, like saying that President Bush is a nazi. Having the words greed and feed form a cross - suggesting that Christianity and avarice are one in the same - is an extra layer of doctrine that's preaching to the Red Army Choir.

Paris Hilton

This already great piece of Soho street art has been improved by the elements. A few months of rot and exposure only add to the meaning of the image.

I think this is Paris Hilton who I assume is named after the Hilton Paris hotel. That means that she could also have been named Stockton Hilton, Waco Hilton, or Newark Airport Hilton.
