The text, preserving that misspellings and grammatical errors:

Do not ever pass 14th St. Us who stay here all winter because we don't have a trust fund or families should get to enjoy the summer w/out you taking our $ by cutting us off or have to deal w/ you O.D.ing & making it hot w/ the cops!! Every group has its politics, from the Cleveland East Rotary Club to crusties. With groups that see themselves as outside the mainstream, the divide is usually over who is keeping it real and who is a poseur. When I was a punk rocker that was always one of the issues.

Leviticus - Part 21: Global President 2008

Leviticus throws his hat in the ring for the Global Presidency. The bottom was torn off before I found this poster but his message to the people includes the words "drowning", "dead + forgotten" and "nightmare."

The text reads,

Crazed Christianity - just the way I like it. Both postings insist you to follow the Ten Commandments and listen to Christ Radio at 53AM.

I remember Tony Alamo. I first read one of his crazy newsletters when I was a kid in Los Angeles. If that's a picture of Tony, it must be an old one.

The Campaign Against Scientology

Someone has it in for Scientology. Through the websites whyweprotest.net and xenu.net , and now fliers, the enemies of Tom Cruise are waging an info war on the house that L. Ron Hubbard built. I found all three of these around Union Square in a week.

The people who vehemently oppose cults are often as fanatical as the cults themselves. If everyone ignores Scientology, it will go away.

Trees Slaughtered By The Bloomberg Administration

The verb slaughter is usually used with animals and sometimes people. It doesn't go with trees.
Also, trees lost the Battle of New York centuries ago and you can't single out Bloomberg as the guy responsible for their absence in the urban landscape. He's the guy that fought so hard for congestion pricing, a way of deterring driving in the city which would have done more to improve the air than planting trees.

The Message: Procession

This is a recollection of a Catholic parade on Aruba with some scientific words mixed in. At the bottom it says , "Un message: No Peace...No Justice! God Bless Papa "

Don't Believe The Next 9/11

Someone handed this to me in Union Square.

I remember the last 9/11. The weather was still warm so my wife and went to Central Park for a picnic. Then we rented a tandem bike and went for a ride. On the way home we found $50 that we used to pay for a perfect meal at Il Cantinori. And we finished it all with a 5-hour lovemaking marathon. It was an unbelievable day and if the next 9/11 is half as good, it will be amazing too.

A Salute To Women's Resistance

Of all of the statements on this poster, the one that is so left wing is "No Police I.C.E. Terror." I.C.E. stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Only a super leftie would think that enforcing the laws that govern our borders is terror. Imagine their outrage that women have to stop at traffic lights. No justicia! No paz!

I got this from a group of super lefties that are out in Union Square every weekend protesting Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

This flyer protests the enormous defense budget, specifically how much the U.S. spends on Israeli and their military. You can see a full-size copy of the flyer with all it's facts and figures here.

In a city with a larger Jewish population than Jerusalem, these demonstrations always attract an angry response from passers by .

Union Square has become the Times Square for NYC residents. It's got everything that Times Square has, like theaters, big box retailers, street performers, crowds and a major subway hub, but without the tourists. Add a park and some political unrest and voila!
