Barack Obama vs. Hillary Clinton
Rob, our west coast correspondent, took these photos on Super Tuesday in California.
This image sums up the contest: Hillary Clinton, the slick product of the well-oiled Democratic machine, is being challenged by the grass roots efforts of Barack Obama and his supporters. And then there's Ron Paul on the fringes. Now that he's dropped out of the race, he's on the sidelines.
These two posters make a good point. Obama was willing to take an unpopular stand for what he thought was right while Hillary made a safe political bet, figuring that it would be easier to talk her way out her support for the war should it fail than hava to explain why she didn't support it if it was successful.
Samantha Power, the former foreign policy advisor to Obama was right. Hillary Rodham Clinton is a monster who is stooping to anything to win the Democratic nomination.

The Polity of Beasts
The press release for The Polity of Beasts, a novel by Renald Iacovelli, describes the premise thus: When the animals in a certain forest decide to institute among themselves a democratic government in the hope of improving their lives, they soon find themselves worse off than ever as the pandering animals who have been elected to office begin indulging their greed and lust for power.
George Orwell did a pretty god job with the whole political animal concept so I doubt that any high schoolers will ever have to plow through The Polity of Beasts.

USSA Hillary
Calling Democrats commies seems like something that would have ended with the Cold War but here it is, this time directed at Hillary Clinton. As the Senator from New York, Hillary hasn't done anything radically leftist. In fact she hasn't made any sudden moves that could harm her chances at presidency. She even voted for the Iraq War when it seemed politically expedient. In that way, she is very much like the leaders of the former USSR, more interested in accumulating and holding onto power than in fostering a revolution.
If you hate Hillary, you can download this poster, and other anti-Hillary posters at unsavoryagents.com.

Ron Paul For President
I posted before about a dollar bill with a Ron Paul message on it. Now his campaign has stepped up to flyers. The media would like to paint him as a kook but his views aren't that weird. They're just an odd combination of Democrat and Republican positions: "He believes in socialized medicine and Government medical coverage for All" and "Is strongly against big government and believes the government should let Citizens run their own lives."
As of this writing, Ron Paul has 6 delegates. That's 2 less than Fred Thompson and 4 more than Rudy Giuliani.

The Bush Regime Engineered 9-11
Who killed our 3000 brothers and sisters on September 11?Was the Titanic an inside job?
What is the connection between the Vatican, the Roosevelt administration and the 1906 San Francisco earthquake?
Who really shot President McKinley and why did they name a mountain after him?

No Smoking
Any Republican politician who takes a stand on an issue will be compared to Hitler. The comparison has been made so many times that it has become meaningless. So what will we do when the nationalist socialist workers find themselves a new leader?

World War III

Found in Long Island City stuck to a lamp post. This sticker warns against World War III using an image from WWII.
Right now, World War III seems unlikely because the defining conflict of our day is the struggle between the western world and the Islamic world and the militants that we are up against have the good sense not to take us on toe-to-toe, tank-to-tank and plane-to-plane. They are developing different tactics that do not include the sort of large battles that we have come so associate with World War, ones like the image used in the sticker. If we decide to engage the enemy we will be faced with a situation more like a string of Iraq Wars.

Ron Paul 2008
This landed in my wallet this week.Ron Paul is a congressman from Texas seeking the Republican nomination for president. According to Paul's website, "Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution.
Paul strictly constitutionalist opinions landed him an appearance in "America - Freedom to Fascism", a documentary produced by Aaron Russo, a Hollywood producer who was also a nominee for the Libertarian Party presidential candidate in 2004.
Googling "America - Freedom to Fascism" led to the the promotional website which has clips from the film and related interviews. There's more interesting information there than I'll go into here but, to relate it back to the dollar bill, Russo believes that the primary goal of American citizens should be to shut down the Federal Reserve which he states is not a federal institution at all, but a private bank run by a cartel of the major banks in the U.S.
Russo feels that one of the many misdeeds of the Fed was to take the country off of the gold standard, an action that is gradually making our money worthless. According to the film, a US dollar today is only worth 4 cents of what it was worth in 1930.
So deface all you want, we'll make more!

War Is Not The Answer
General Wes Clark is the face of stopIranWar.com, a grassroots organization trying to head off a war against Iran. Where those who protested the Iraq War failed, this movement will succeed.President Bush can't drum up enough political support for an invasion for Iran, even with the threat of Islam with the bomb. The country trusted him once on a mission to eradicate weapons of mass destruction and won't get fooled again.
Secondly, our all-volunteer military is stretched too thin to invade and occupy yet another country. Entering Iran would require reinstating the draft which is politically impossible.
To ignore both of those points, Bush would be setting himself up for some serious Shakespearean folly.

Iraq Out Now

This was wired to a sign post in Washington Square Park. The "Iraq Out Now" statement sent me on an Internet search for catchy anti-war slogans. I found these gems:
These colors don't run the world.
How did our oil get under their sand?
Who Would Jesus Bomb?
Don't blame me, I voted with the majority.
How many Lives per Gallon?
And my favorite:
Start Drafting SUV Drivers Now.

Housing a Constitutional Amendment XXVII
Housing a Constitutional Amendment is an ongoing series of flyers that are like the rantings of a homeless person committed to paper. The first one I picked up put a Christian spin on the issue.
Later, I found this even stranger example. The eccentric details include "PHONE BLOCK ESCORT SERVICE CALL CONGRESS", "SURRENDER YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE" and "COUNTER IN CULTURE".
The back of the flyer lays out a plan wherein the homeless can sue those who are responsible for their condition. It's written in poor English and riddled with typos.
Is this flyer calling for a protest of non-violence?
This one takes on prostitution and the sex industry. Best quote: "Masturbation law in topless clubs repealed; with regulation. Man must no ex pose him self (sic) and secretion must be confined inside clothes."
The back states "There are three major Industries proven to assist forced homelessness. 1)AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY 2)SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL, AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY 3)THE SEX INDUSTRY."It targets the Village Voice for a boycott because of all the adult services ads in the back. part of the rationale is "We found every organization in the paper practicing Social Control. Under this Social Control, a person in need of socializing would find all avenues closed accept (sic) the pornography and prostitution the Village Voice offered."
The creator of this campaign is very concerned about AIDS, writing "So we investigated Safe Sex. We found only One Way of not catching the AIDS VIRUS through a five step process. THE FIVE STEP PROCESS: 1) Proper dating skills 2) A proper dating environment 3) A courting period (dating period) 4) An AIDS TEST of both partners before any sex 5) No cheating sexually on your date."
Next up is drug law reform and I'm guessing that the ideas here is that marijuana should be tolerated more and alcohol less, the same program suggested by the late comedian Bill Hicks. The back of this flyer has the same text as the prostitution reform flyer.

Nothing in the text follows up on America's oil consumption.

And now it's back to sex...

The author calls on reforms for topless clubs but how many men have either gotten or given AIDS at strip joint?

Every version has the wording of the proposed amendment and a P.O. box to write to if you want to help the cause. That part of the flyer is written in proper English but, if you ask me, a constitutional amendment guaranteeing housing is the craziest idea here.

Darren Bloch didn't need a multi-million-dollar war chest to seek public office and nothing says grass roots like flyers you made on a home computer. But desktop candidacy is no match for the loud, stinky, oily Democratic Party Machine. Rosie Mendez won.

Rudy
First, Rudy Giuliani isn't the greatest con-man that ever lived. He's not even in the top ten. Second, he was a good mayor, better than Dinkins. And third, if this is a one-man effort to ruin Rudy's presidential aspirations, don't bother. He doesn't have enough political experience to make it at the national level.

I found three in the Consent series posted in the NYU area. When I see stuff like this around NYU, I guess that it's the work of a newly- actualized wymyn's studies major fighting the white male power structure.

How Do You Define Consent? - Part I

The text for this social statement is from a site called Anarchist People of Color. The art was lifted from "Love and Rockets".
If you find an image in a widely published comic book, is it okay to use it in your radical feminist propaganda? How do you define consent?
